This is regular glass and Artglass anti-reflective glass. Regular glass reflects 8% of light, while anti-reflective glass reflects less than 1%. It may seem like a small difference, but as you can see for yourself, those few percentage points can drastically change the view.
Imagine looking at your favorite artwork or a cherished photograph, only to be distracted by glare and reflections. While regular glass reflects 8% of light, dulling the clarity of what’s behind it. Anti-reflective glass, on the other hand, reflects down to 0,6%, making colors richer, details sharper, and your viewing experience effortless. A mere 7% difference – but the impact? Night and day. Unfortunately, the answer is YES – Ultraviolet light is one of the biggest threats to artwork.
Think about it: you wouldn’t stare directly into the sun without sunglasses. The light is too intense, it strains your eyes, and without protection, the damage is real. The same goes to artwork. Exposed to UV rays, colors fade, paper weakens, and delicate details gradually disappear.
Shockingly, fading will become noticeable in just six months, and over time, valuable pieces can be permanently damaged. Here’s where it gets even more surprising – regular glass offers little to no protection against these harmful rays. While it may block dust and physical damage, it does almost nothing to stop UV light from breaking down pigments and materials. This leaves your artwork exposed and vulnerable to irreversible deterioration.
But here’s the good news – you can fight back with proper glazing!
To get a clear understanding of the difference, we conducted a test.
As shown in the image, we used a special ultraviolet light and two different types of glass to compare their effectiveness.
The results speak for themselves: under regular glass, UV rays pass through almost entirely, causing potential long-term damage.
In contrast, Artglass with 99% UV light block remains crystal clear, ensuring your artwork stays vibrant and protected for years to come.
